The Middle East and Africa (MEA) market is still a nascent market for pet industry, but it has been growing at a faster pace than before in recent years. According to a researchandmarkets.com, MEA pet care market showed a positive momentum with a y-o-y growth of 5.4 per cent in 2020, despite the pandemic slowdown.

There was a definite rise of premium pet foods uptake in the region with pet humanisation on the rise. During this period, there were 31 new product launches in the dog and cat food category. Since cats are more preferred in the region, 58 per cent of these launches were of cat food. BY 2025, MEA PET CARE INDUSTRY IS FORECAST AT US$2 BILLION BY 2025.

The rise of e-shoppers

In markets like the UAE and Saudi Arabia, e-retailing of pet food products reported a surge, and it is expected that the trend will continue IN 2021, GCC PET FOOD MARKET WAS AT US$222.9 MILLION, AND IS EXPECTED TO REACH US$ 328.4 MILLION BY 2027, AT A CAGR OF 6.5 PER CENT.
